First Login to Microsoft 365 on a Mobile Phone

When logging in to Microsoft 365 for the first time, you need to complete multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA can be done on a workstation or a mobile device.

To do it on a mobile phone, follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser and go to www.office.com. Select Sign In
  2. Enter your student email in the format firstname.lastname@samiedu365.fi and click Next
  3. Enter the password you received in the acceptance letter and select Sign In
  4. A window will appear saying “More information required.” Select Next.
  5. Enable two-factor authentication using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
  6. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app to your phone by clicking Download now
  7. Then, select Connect your account to the app by clicking this link
  8. Follow the instructions in the Authenticator app. Once done, return to this window. You have now successfully linked the Authenticator app to your Microsoft 365 account. Continue by selecting Next
  9. Add your personal phone number to your account.
  10. Select country-code from the menu.
  11. Enter your phone number.Select Receive code. Select Next.
  12. Enter the code you received via SMS in the “Enter Code” field and select Next.
  13. Your phone is now registered. Select Next.
  14. Select Finished/ready.

First Login to Microsoft 365 on a laptop or desktop

  1. Open an internet browser on your computer and go to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.
  2. Enter your credentials in the Microsoft login window. You will then be redirected to the Ammattiopisto Samiedu login page.
  3. In the window that appears, click the Next -button.
  4. Click the Next -button again.
  5. Click the Next -button once more.
  6. At this point, open your phone and install the Microsoft Authenticator app from the App Store or Play Store, depending on your phone’s operating system.
  7. Once the app is installed and opened on your phone, select the Scan QR code option.
  8. Now scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen (which appeared after step 5) and click the Next -button.
  9. You now have Microsoft Authenticator set up, allowing you to securely authenticate in the M365 environment.
